Challenged, encouraged, broken, and restored, the Alliance family leaves General Council 2007 renewed and more determined than ever to find the Father's lost children and bring them home to His Kingdom. Council 2007 ministered to the Alliance family with some of the most dynamic and inspirational speakers ever—their own!
Alliance president Dr. Gary Benedict led the services with the grace and humility of a servant leader. Our hearts were compelled to worship our Lord through the powerful music teams of Kelvin Walker and Essex Alliance Church.
"Does your ministry matter?" asked John Stumbo in his opening-night message. "Let God give you the power to make an eternal difference," Ron Morrison exhorted. Jonathan Schaeffer reminded us that God's extraordinary power will be made manifest through willing and able ordinary people who provide a holy temple for His Spirit.
God's power touched many lives during Friday night's Healing and Communion service. On Saturday morning, Dennis Episcopo examined Gary Benedict's dream to see Alliance churches filled with healthy, high-capacity leaders who unleash their churches and their laity to complete the Great Commission. "Ministry is tough," he said, "but God wants His leaders 'pumped' and ready to follow Him."
As the procession of flags from every nation representing Alliance work filled the auditorium Sunday morning, the Missions Rally brought it all back to what we're here for—every two minutes, someone comes to Christ through Alliance ministries. The Alliance matters!

G.C. Kidz Club is a hit at Council. The sessions are packed. Participants were thrilled. "We played lots of games and heard a missionary talk about telling people about Jesus!" said Lyndsay. "It was great fun," said Micah.
The G.C. Kidz Club Web site has been an overwhelming success. Alliance churches across the United States are using the site as a fun and interactive way to teach Alliance missions to children.
The G.C. Kidz Club debuts this year as a missions-focused children's church. Jerry Wages, children's pastor at Murrysville (PA) C&MA Church is directing the event for more than 70 kids. "We've planned a week of high energy thrills, with crazy games, awesome missionaries, great crafts, and thought provoking, interactive lessons," said Wages. "Our staff has been working and praying for a great week—and now it is here!"
The Council Kidz Club features an authentic Kidz Club playhouse modeled after the Web site graphics, complete with life-size characters Juan, Charles, Kieko, Jenny—and Sprocket, the dog. Visit the G.C. Kidz Club Web site at http://www.cmalliance.org/kidz

Night two of General Council 2007 began with the story of a woman who wanted to come to Christ but knew her decision would lead to banishment from her family—a familiar tale for Alliance missionaries serving in any region where a decision for Christ comes with great cost. A creative-access worker related how he came to be involved in the establishment of an Alliance Christian school in the country where he serves. His three-year-old son had heard the daily call to prayer for the traditional religion. He was scared as he explained to his parents that the man on the loud speaker was asking for his heart. “We’re a Christian family,” said the worker. “We read the Bible to our son every day. “We thought he would be immune to the spiritual darkness around us.” The experience left the child’s parents stunned and led them to the school project, which will give the country’s children an opportunity to hear the gospel during their tender years.
Next, Jonathan Schaeffer inspired the audience with an encouraging message about God’s use of ordinary people for His extraordinary purposes. “Don’t you know that you are the temple of the Living God?” asked Schaeffer. “What does that mean for us today?” Schaeffer, whose family is “steeped in Alliance ministry,” said C&MA president Gary Benedict, pastors Grace Church in a Cleveland suburb. “Are you a most holy place for Him?” Schaeffer challenged. “What really matters most is simply this; we have this treasure in jars of clay. Hallelujah, what a Savior!” Voices lifted in worship, praised God for the treasure within as the service came to an end.

With all the fanfare of a holy celebration, the Lord was lifted up and glorified in the opening service of General Council 2007. Kelvin Walker, Nyack's campus pastor, continued his Council tradition of leading riveting worship through music. This was followed by a frank, inspirational message by corporate vice president John Stumbo. "Does it matter?" Stumbo asked approximately 2,000 Alliance family members of God's call to ministry.
"It is a lifelong eternal commitment from Almighty Christ for His Church," Stumbo said. "We are part of something of eternal significance. Whatever you do, wherever, invest it in the Church. It's the Church that lasts. Stumbo's message was clear—Alliance ministry does matter.
